Antibiotic resistance

Antibiotic resistance is a growing threat since it jeopardizes treatment of infections where antibiotics are necessary. Medical care depends on effective antibiotics in situations such as surgery, transplants and cancer treatment that may involve an increased risk of infection.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease that has become one of the most common diseases.

Pubic lice

This skin parasite lives on human blood and thrives best on moist, warm skin surfaces. Without access to blood, crab lice die within 24 hours. Itching is the most common symptoms of crab louse infestation.

Head lice

Head lice are the most common of our mammalian parasites to infect humans and infest the hair and scalp. Epidemics often occur at the start of each school year. Head lice live on human blood and bite the skin a few times each day.

Impetigo

Impetigo is a contagious infection of the surface layers of the skin that is most common in children aged between 0-12 years of age, but also affects adults. Impetigo is commonly occurring and is caused by streptococcal and/or staphylococcal bacteria.

Scabies

The scabies mite, Sarcoptes scabiei, is a small animal closely related to spiders that can barely be seen with the naked eye. The aid of a microscope is required to see the scabies mite and the tunnels it burrows through the skin.

Wound healing

No matter the size of a wound, it is important for the healing process that the wound is well treated and controlled. During any healing process the goal should be to heal the wound as quickly as possible because even the smallest wounds can lead to an infection.
